Milling and Stabilisation Works

MILLING

Cold milling is an effective and cost-efficient solution for renewing asphalt pavements.

Milling is used either to level defects in the asphalt surface, known as profile milling, or to remove asphalt layers at varying depths, including complete removal of the asphalt pavement, known as deep milling.

The method is economical, and the milled asphalt can be reused in an environmentally friendly manner. The condition of the asphalt, the client’s budget and the desired result are all taken into account when planning the work.

Our working widths range from 0.5 to 2.2 metres, with milling depths from 10 to 330 millimetres.

STABILISATION

When an old road surface reaches the end of its service life and has suffered a significant loss of load-bearing capacity, the existing base layer must be strengthened before a new asphalt pavement is laid.

Stabilisation is an economical and environmentally friendly method of strengthening base layers with binders. During the process, binders—usually cement—are added to the recycled material, increasing the load-bearing capacity and service life of the base layer.

The mixed material is graded, compacted and treated with an optimal amount of water. Within just a few hours, the layer begins to harden, forming a water-resistant surface. By repelling water, the stabilised layer becomes stronger and distributes loads more evenly across the deeper layers. A properly strengthened base can reduce the number of additional asphalt concrete layers required, significantly lowering the overall construction cost.

Cement stabilisation is suitable wherever load-bearing capacity needs to be improved, including smaller car parks and access roads.

The primary requirement is sufficient access for the mixing machine. The machine weighs 36 tonnes, is 3.0 metres wide and 9.3 metres long.

We offer the Wirtgen WR 2500S stabiliser, which can mix material to a depth of up to 50 centimetres. We provide complete stabilisation solutions and can also offer the machine for hire if required.

Our experienced team will always find the most suitable and cost-effective solution for each client.
